Day 7 - Inverness

The original plan was for the Tourists to take a boat trip on Loch Ness in the morning today, but unfortunately the boat tours are not running at this time. Instead, the Tourists were able to have a lie in and relax until 10:30 when they headed to a museum. Some Tourists took the opportunity to walk around the city of Inverness in the morning.

The Tourists then rode the Tour bus down to the Inverness city center to go to the Inverness Museum and Art Gallery where they learned quite a bit about the Highlands and the Jacobite Uprising.

Tourist Chris McMahon tried putting on a Tartan the traditional way and made a reasonable but not wholly correct attempt.

After the museum, the Tourists had a short period of time to do some shopping in the city centre before the bus departed.

The Tourists arrived at the Inverness Ice Centre

The Tourists had a lunch of soup and sandwiches with the teams they would soon compete against.

In the bar area of the arena they have a dime store Indian that they asked each Tourist to take a picture with. It shows how bad my primary education was since I had no idea that there were Indians in Scotland as well as America.

The team did well today and extended our lead significantly. We will have the Scots gunning for us, so we will need this cushion.

After the games, the teams socialized over a cocktail.

The Tourists then returned to the hotel to prepare for the formal dinner where they would be joined by curlers from Elgin and Inverness.

Iain MacKay then provided the Tourists with a history of the USA/Canada Goodwill Tours with Scotland.

The Tourists were then congratulated for their 27 point advancement today and provided the Tourists with a sample of Glenmorangie.

Leland Rich thanked the Scots for the hospitality, friendships and camaraderie.

For those that are following along, as of 10:54 pm tonight, Peter’s Scotch count has hit 47.  He refuses to count the single malt ice cream he had for dessert, as he cannot confirm the exact scotch that was used.
