The Journey Across the Pond

The Tourists have convened at airports across the country and are now on their waye across the pond.

Keith, Doug P. Steve, Leland and Bill met up at SeaTac airport (Seattle, WA) and as they had the furthest to travel, they were the first to depart.

Ken, Kent, Doug A., and Chris met up at MSP (Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN) were the next to meet up and depart.

Shawn, Craig, Roger, Michael D., and Jeff met up at O’Hare Airport and were the last of the 3 groups heading for Charles De Gaulle Airport in Paris to depart.

Or so we thought….

Mechanical difficulties on the Minneapolis flight forced the Tourists to deplane and hit the bar again while the airline located another plane.

Luckily, they were able to locate another plane and the group departed again after a delay of roughly 3 hours meaning they will not make the connection to Edinburgh and will have the joy of spending some additional time at Charles De Gaulle.

When the Seattle and Chicago flights landed, the Minneapolis Tourists were approximately here putting them into Charles De Gaulle roughly 90 minutes after the departure for Edinburgh.

The Chicago and Seattle Tourists landed at approximately the same time, but the connection to Edinburgh was tight.  Additionally, while they were just doing a connection to another AirFrance flight, because it was in another terminal, the Tourists needed to go through security again.  The Chicago tourists arrived while boarding was in progress.  The Seattle Tourists had a longer walk and encountered greater delays at security.  They unfortunately did not make the connection giving them the opportunity to spend some quality time with the Minneapolis Tourists.

Finally,  Michael S., Wayne, Doug B., Bret, Peter and Greg met up at JFK for a direct flight into Edinburgh and had a very uneventful trip, arriving roughly on time.

The Tourists are beyond excited for the friendship and camaraderie that await them over the next 3 weeks!
